Vipassana is a simple method of practical thinking that makes it possible to cope with the tensions and problems of everyday life in a calm and balanced. It is a systematic way of developing insight, self-content and real peace of mind.

Mr. SN Goenka and teachers trained by him have been teaching a form of Vipassana meditation in India and abroad for last 30 odd years. Vipassana is a Pali word meaning Special (vi) monitoring (Passana). As taught by Mr. Goenka, meditation technique is taught in 12-day Retreats in special centers. Retreat to the monitoring of breath and bodily sensations during a period of twelve days, after which the meditator is expected to continue his meditation in everyday life.
Mr. Goenka was born in Burma and learned this technique from his teacher, U Ba Khin Sayagyi, which he came, but all seek a cure for his painful migraine. Mr U Ba Khin was a disciple of Mr. My thet, which was by a disciple of Mr. Ledi Sayadaw. Mr. Sayadaw was honored as a Arahant (a fully enlightened that) in his later years.
Mr U Ba Khin Meditation founded the International Center (IMC) in Rangoon, two miles north of the famous Shwedagon pagoda. TMC now has six centers around the world. All centers are guided by Mother Sayamagyi, close disciple Sayagyi U Ba Khin, who has taught and practiced meditation for more than fifty years of tradition that have committed to U Ba Khin Sayagyi demise in 1971.1
Mr. Goenka past fourteen years Mr. Khin was ba and Vipassana became a teacher himself. U Ba Khin was willing to go to India to teach and spread of Vipassana in its country of origin, but he can not fulfill his dream. Mr Goenka, was however, able to go to India and began teaching Vipassana. After many years, as the technique became popular, centers are created in different parts of India and abroad. Vipassana movement headquarters is in Igatpuri (near Bombay).
Center Retreats run different durations, ranging from 12 days in more than two months. 12-day retreat is held more frequently and attended.
Since the main vehicle for meditation is this 12-day withdrawal, I will now try and give a review of its accurate.
